Needlele Siskin Eleocharis acicularis is common all over the world. This graceful grass plant fits well in the foreground of larger aquariums or in the middle ground in nano tanks.

The needle cress forms runner shoots and thus gradually colonizes larger areas. Thus, the plant carpet becomes denser and denser. To propagate, simply separate some of these stolons and replant them.

When planting this InVitro grown Needle Siskin into the aquarium, the transparent nutrient medium should be carefully removed from the roots under running water beforehand. Then cut the culms back to 1 cm. Divide the rootstock into smaller portions and place these pieces in the substrate with some spacing (about 3-5 cm). A pair of tweezers helps tremendously with this job! It takes a little more effort at first, but the success will more than make up for your work:  After a few days, the plants will sprout anew and the first stalks adapted to aquatic life will appear.
