Genus: | Taxiphyllum |
Basin placement: | Foreground, middle ground |
Flame moss belongs to the genus Taxiphyllum, but the species is not yet determined. With the rather tightly upright, slightly spirally growing and barely branched shoots, it looks a bit like a lambent light green fire. This effect is particularly good on long and relatively narrow rather horizontally aligned wood branches.
Pruning would be rather counterproductive, because then the shoots would branch more and the flame effect would be lost. However, the moss can be propagated quite easily by dividing the pads.
Flame moss grows quickly after being tied up and continues to creep along the substrate, while the vertically upward pointing shoots continue to form.
Flame moss can also be cultivated in the terrarium, but there it does not grow quite as tightly upright.
Laboratory grown In Vitro Flame Moss is free of algae and of unwanted co-inhabitants, it is not sprayed and therefore does not bring any pollutants. Simply rinse the nutrient gel carefully under running water and place the Flame Moss directly into your aquarium without quarantine.
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant glue you stick this plant gently and easily on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
