The lush green foreground plant Utricularia graminifolia from the water hose family originates from Southeast Asia, where it occurs in nutrient-poor waters with low water hardness. In the foreground, the grass-like water hose forms cushions that are a maximum of 5 cm high. Through its underground runners, the plant multiplies quite quickly and becomes beautifully dense.

Utricularia graminifolia is indeed a carnivorous plant, but its trap bladders are very small. The Grassy Water Hose eats mainly microorganisms such as paramecium or Cyclops nauplii. The bladders are harmless to dwarf shrimp and even their offspring.

For planting, take the portion out of the cup and rinse the nutrient gel from the roots. This is best done carefully under running water, the plant can be soaked for a while beforehand, then it will go better. Divide the portion into 6-8 smaller pieces and place these pieces in the substrate at a distance of 1-3 cm, preferably with tweezers. Please be careful not to squeeze the delicate plant!
Utricularia graminifolia can also be wonderfully glued or tied onto roots or stones. In the beginning, the Grass-like Water Hose should not be illuminated with full intensity, so that it can acclimate in peace.
