The stem plant Hottonia from Asia and Europe is an undemanding and easy to care for beginner plant. A dense group quickly forms from the many nicely curved shoots with lobed, intense light green leaves. Each stem grows 4 - 6 cm wide and 10 - 30 cm tall. Regular pruning of the longest shoots provides vigorous new growth from below, maintaining the dense, bushy form. Thanks to its broad growth habit, the plant is particularly suitable as a transition between very low and high plants, just as its light green color can provide beautiful contrasts.
