ADA - Colorado Sand

The slightly reddish natural ADA Colorado Sand from Aqua Design Amano fits perfectly to aquariums with root wood or with stones in brown tones or in reddish color. This beautiful decorative sand is water neutral and does not affect the water hardness in the aquarium water or pH.

The somewhat muted coloring makes ADA Colorado Sand a great cosmetic sand for aquascapes with a more sedate look. Also in combination with green aquarium plants, the beautiful reddish ADA Colorado Sand looks simply ingenious, and the contrast to the dark Aqua Soil from ADA is simply unparalleled.

Mulm or dirt can be seen here a little less than with the lighter La Plata sand from ADA, so the cleaning effort is kept within really narrow limits. It is even less dazzling than the lighter sand and is extremely easy to photograph.

ADA Colorado Sand can be used to beautifully accentuate unplanted open areas in the foreground, and of course it can also be used in combination with La Plata Sand or the coarser La Plata Sand big. For the design of paths, canyon landscapes or river courses in the natural aquarium this beautiful cosmetic sand is simply super suitable.

With a grain size of 1-4 mm, the ADA Colorado Sand is quite fine. Since the grains are rounded, it is perfect for aquariums with armored catfish, which like to rinse their gills with grains of sand and thus chew through the sand for edibles at the same time. Dwarf shrimp also love to turn over grains of sand and graze the fine biofilms on them, and snails love to burrow through the fine sand. Thanks to the round grains of ADA Colorado Sand, this is completely safe for all aquarium inhabitants.

Before use, ADA Colorado Sand is thoroughly rinsed once with clear water to remove dust and abrasion. Ideally, you do this in a bucket or use an old pillowcase for this purpose.
