This Anubias barteri var. nana, the dwarf spear leaf, is attached to a root with a suction cup. This variety is considered one of the smallest Anubias, and it grows very slowly. Anubias have hard foliage and are considered perch resistant. The dwarf spear leaf still thrives well under low light or in shady areas.
With this sucker root, you can very easily create another layer in the aquarium. Attached to the side glass or back wall, it not only looks good, but it provides another retreat and grazingarea for crayfish and shrimp.
Anubias barteri var. nana can be propagated quite easily: To do this, cut off a piece of the rhizome (the rootstock). Two or more leaves should still be left on each section.
Please do not plant Anubias in the substrate; the rhizome may rot. Plants do best when tied up on wood or on a piece of rock.
Anubias barteri var. nana can also be grown above water in a very humid terrarium.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new plants the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant glue you stick this plant gently and uncomplicated on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
