Product information
Big Stripe Mosaic Racing Snail - Neritina sp.
A beautiful little snail that is not only an absolute eye-catcher, but also extremely useful as an algae eater and aquarium cleaner. It should not be used in very newly set up aquariums, as it already needs a certain amount of algae cover to feel at home right away. Alternatively, you can provide them with food specially developed for these snail species. - Garnelio
Description

The Big Stripe Mosaic Snail is an eye-catching black and yellow patterned snail of the genus Neritina, which prefers to eat algae and thus keeps the glass, aquarium decorations and plants clean. For the aquarium it is therefore not only an eye-catcher, but also very useful. It grows up to 2 centimeters in diameter. In its natural habitat it is found on stones and wood, where it scrapes off algae deposits and biofilms.

Like all neritids, the Big Stripe Mosaic Racer Snail is separately sexed, but one cannot distinguish the sexes externally. To date, there have been no reports of successful breeding of the Big Stripe Mosaic Racing Snail in the aquarium. The females lay their bright egg cocoons on hard substrates and partly also on the shells of other snails, and larvae hatch. However, like other racing snail species, they also need seawater or brackish water. The Big Stripe Mosaic Racing Snail is therefore very suitable for aquarists who do not want surprising offspring in their aquarium.

Big Stripe Mosaic Racing Snails also eat mainly algae growth and biofilms in the aquarium. After some time they will also take food scraps. Some snails find it difficult to adapt to artificial food, they are helped by feeding with Natureholic's special snail food, which is also excellent for feeding weakened racing snails. Foliage and green food (nettle, spinach, various vegetables) is also good. This snail will not go after healthy plants. Once acclimated it proves to be extremely robust. In newly established aquariums, Big Stripe Mosaic Racing Snails, like all racing snails, often do not find enough food.

Big Stripe Mosaic Snails can be socialized very well, they are very peaceful. Only with snail eaters they should not be kept together.

Like most neritids, the Big Stripe Mosaic Racing Snail prefers rather hard water and a pH of 6 and above. This snail can wander above the water surface from time to time, so the tank must be covered without gaps, alternatively use our innovative Snail barrier.

Our food recommendation: With the Natureholic Snail Feed Power Paste you create a feeding lawn, which is very well accepted by all aufwuchs feeding snails. Even delicate wild-caught snails such as racing snails or staghorn snails, which are stressed after transport and do not accept conventional food, can be fed up well with it.

Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.

Actively prevent outbreaks: With the invisible Natureholic Snail Barrier you prevent the escape and loss of your snails from the aquarium.
