from over 3,000 reviews "Water values: | soft to hard |
Difficulty: | for beginners |
Propagation: | possible in fresh water |
Coloring: | black |
Origin: | Abroad offspring |
The Black Sakura shrimp belongs to the species Neocaridina davidi and is thus a color variant of the algae shrimp. It is characterized by a deep black, opaque coloration. On a light background the animals show up well, on a dark background they are visually a bit lost. They grow up to 3 centimeters in size, with the females getting slightly larger than the males.
Basically the Black Sakura shrimp is a very undemanding shrimp species. The wild form lives in very different water in nature and is very adaptable. Well planted aquariums are nevertheless preferred, because the animals find sufficient hiding places as well as mulm and growth to eat, especially in mosses and other fine plants.
Black Sakura shrimp are scavengers and omnivores that will gladly accept practically any food. A varied diet is important, proteins should be given in the form of a suitable protein food twice a week, otherwise vegetable food in particular is readily eaten. Brown fall foliage is almost mandatory in an invertebrate aquarium with Black Sakura Shrimp.
Black Sakura shrimp are very peaceful and can be well socialized with other dwarf shrimp, provided that the demands on the water values fit together. With other shrimps of the genus Neocaridina the Black Sakura shrimp can cross, the offspring is then no longer hereditary. A starting stock of 10 to 20 animals ensures that the Black Sakura shrimp acclimates well. In the group the animals have clearly less stress. Also with fish our black dwarf shrimps can be kept well together, provided that these are peaceful and not too hectic. Black Sakura shrimp can also be kept together with crayfish, snails and mussels . They can even be kept in the water part of an aquaterrarium with freshwater crabs.
The breeding of the animals takes place without any human intervention. After a gestation period of three to four weeks, the females release between 20 and 40 fully developed young. If you want to keep your strain color-fast, it is recommended to select out weaker colored animals.
Our feed recommendation: The soft Mainfeed Softpads from NatureHolic are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production process we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, in which the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as much as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
