Black Shadow Mosura shr imp are Shadow shrimp or Taiwan shr imp with bee shrimp pattern. The head is black with a white mask, and the abdomen may have a black spot. The bluish body color may show through. The animals have the deep black and opaque white of Shadow shrimp. Supposedly Shadow shrimp originate from a mating of Bee and Tiger shrimp, another theory is that this was a mutation that was then further bred. The females reach an average size of 2.5 to 3 cm, the males remain a bit smaller and are less chubby than de females.
The Black Shadow Mosura shrimp prefers very clean, oxygen-rich water with a carbonate hardness as low as possible and a temperature of 25 °C at the most. An aquarium heater is therefore not necessary at room temperature, in summer, on the contrary, cooling is more likely to be considered. Tap water is not suitable for keeping or breeding Black Shadow Mosura. In our facility the animals sit on active Soil and in remineralized osmosis water, which is brought to a conductance of about 300 microsiemens with Bee Salt(bee salt) from Salty Shrimp. The active Soil buffers the water values in an optimal range for soft water shrimps. We definitely recommend this type of keeping in the home aquarium as well. A weekly water change of 10 to 30% helps to keep the animals healthy.
Regarding the food Black Shadow Mosura are simple. They are omnivores, but should be fed with a clear emphasis on plant foods. Twice a week, however, the animals need a suitable protein food. You definitely won't make a mistake with brown autumn leaves as a permanent food either
When Black Shadow Mosura shrimp feel comfortable, they reproduce and are relatively easy to breed. After mating, the females attach 20 to 40 eggs to their swimming legs under the pleon (the abdomen). After three to four weeks, depending on the temperature, the baby shrimp hatch. In the offspring of the Black Shadow Mosura can also fall red animals. The juveniles are quite small and do not feed very actively at the beginning Dust food is therefore a good initial food for them, as it reaches practically everywhere in the aquarium.
As peaceful group animals Black Shadow Mosura shrimp get along with each other as well as with other shrimp that match their water values. To avoid stress, the Black Shadow Mosura Shrimp should only be kept in pure shrimp aquariums, possibly also with peaceful snails. As for fish, we recommend - if at all - very small, herbivorous fish. Under no circumstances should the Black Shadow Mosura be kept together with crabs, crayfish, predatory snails and mussels .
Our food recommendation: NatureHolic's soft Mainfeed Softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, in which the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as far as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
