The Blue Pearl shrimp, like the White Pearl shrimp, is a color form of Neocaridina palmata. The Blue Pearl captivates particularly by its bright, translucent ice-blue with a gentle mother-of-pearl shimmer and by the bright yellow eggs. The average size of a Blue Pearl shrimp is two centimeters. Males remain slimmer and smaller.
Not only for its appearance, but also for its usefulness, this dwarf shrimp is very popular. It likes to graze biofilms and algae carpets and also eats food remains in the community tank. Dead plant parts and smaller dead animals are also eaten before they can pollute the water. Thus, the Blue Pearl Shrimp acts as a health police in the aquarium. The Blue Pearl Shrimp also likes to eat shrimp food and should be fed a suitable protein food twice a week to meet its protein needs. Otherwise, food with predominantly vegetable content is very suitable. Brown autumn leaves are very readily grazed and can be left in the aquarium as permanent food. It has no adverse effect on the water values.
With other aquarium inhabitants like crayfish, freshwater crabs, small fish, snails and mussels there are no problems in socialization, provided they are as peaceful as the Blue Pearl Shrimp.
As easy as keeping the Blue Pearl Shrimp is its reproduction. The female can carry up to forty eggs, from which fully developed young hatch after three to four weeks. Most of them are blue, occasionally animals hatch that are only very slightly blue or show red pigments. To keep the color of the trunk, one should select. Especially in a community tank with fish, you should make sure to provide the young shrimp with enough finely structured plants so that they can hide.
Our food recommendation: The soft Mainfeed Softpads from NatureHolic are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, which preserves the vitamins and other valuable ingredients as much as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
