from over 3,000 reviews "Propagation: | possible in fresh water |
Water values: | soft |
Origin: | German offspring |
Difficulty: | for professionals |
Coloring: | black white blue |
With the Blue Shadow Mosura we offer another representative of the probably most demanded shrimp species at the moment, the Taiwan Bees or Shadow shrimp.
The animals have a white-blue basic coloration and the typical Mosura head marking. Some Blue Shadow Mosuras show an additional black coloration in the tail area. The females reach a size of up to 2.5 centimeters, the males are usually a little smaller with up to 2 centimeters and also remain slimmer.
The Blue Shadow Mosura is an absolute omnivore. It feeds on dead plant parts, food remains, algae and foliage. Brown autumn leaves can remain in the tank as permanent food and is grazed very gladly. But also special shrimp food, which is exactly adapted to the needs of the animals, is very well accepted. We recommend to feed the Blue Shadow Mosura twice a week with a suitable protein food and otherwise feed it rather vegetable.
The nature of the Blue Shadow Mosura shrimp is peaceful. Especially with bee shr imp or other Taiwan Bees it can be socialized very well. With other shrimp species you have to be very careful that the demands on the water values are congruent. Due to their lower reproduction rates, socialization with fish, crabs, shrimps, predatory snails and mussels is not recommended! It is best to keep Blue Shadow Mosura in a shrimp tank, possibly together with peaceful snails .
Since Blue Shadow Mosura have quite high demands on the water quality and tolerate especially an increased carbonate hardness badly, we recommend for the keeping and especially for breeding the use of osmosis water or demineralized water, which is then treated with a special Hardening salt for bee shrimp according to package instructions. A water change of 10 to 30% per week has proven beneficial in practice. The use of active soils, which optimally adjust the water values for bee shrimp and Taiwan Bees, has also proven successful. Water temperatures should not exceed 25 °C, which is why cooling of the aquarium should be considered, especially in summer.
With optimal keeping the Blue Shadow Mosura can be bred well. The female then carries 20 to 40 eggs in her belly pocket about every two months without further human intervention. After about four weeks of gestation, the fully developed young hatch. These can be kept together with the parents in the tank. The young of the Shadow Bees are not very large and relatively sedentary. Therefore, you should feed sparingly but regularly with dust food when baby shrimp are in the aquarium.
Our food recommendation:NatureHolic's soft Mainfeed Softpads are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During production we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, in which the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as far as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend when keeping fish the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
