One of the smallest Anubias is the variety Anubias barteri var. nana "Petite" (also called Anubias barteri var. nana "Bonsai" ), which appeared in a nursery and was specifically propagated. It grows to a height of only 2-5 cm and with its tiny dark green leaves is one of the most beautiful perching plants for nano aquariums, but also looks great in larger tanks in the foreground or middle ground. Thanks to its hard foliage, Anubias nana "Bonsai" is not eaten by herbivorous fish.
Ideally, the Bonsai Dwarf Spear Leaf is maintained perched on rocks or roots, please do not plant it in the substrate to prevent the rootstock from rotting. Anubias nana "Petite" needs very little light and can therefore be used in shaded areas.
Propagation is very simple: as with all Anubias, it is sufficient to cut off a piece of the rhizome and attach this piece elsewhere. Please note that there should be at least two leaves on it for it to grow reliably.
Anubias barteri var. nana "Bonsai" can also be cultivated wonderfully in terrariums with high humidity.
