One of the smallest Anubias is the Bonsai Dwarf Spear Leaf Anubias barteri var. nana "Bonsai" (also known as Anubias barteri var. nana "Petite"). It was found in a nursery and cultivated specifically, so it is a cultivated form, which probably does not occur in nature in this way. The bonsai dwarf spear leaf, which grows as a perennial, reaches a height of only 2-5 cm and grows very slowly, which predestines it for this type of keeping. The palm form remains impressive and compact for a long time and does not require further care. A group of several palms can be used to create a beautiful grove, which looks especially great on sandy ground in combination with stones.
Anubias barteri var. nana "Bonsai" has hard foliage and is spurned by most herbivorous fish. It is a particularly beautiful perching plant that should not be planted in the substrate to keep the rootstock healthy. As a shade-loving plant, it can also be used in less lit areas of the aquarium.
It is quite easy to propagate the Bonsai Dwarf Spear Leaf. Simply cut off a piece and tie it back on. At least two leaflets should remain on each section so that the plant can reliably resprout.
This palm with Anubias barteri var. nana "Bonsai" is also excellent for use in a permanently humid terrarium or paludarium.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new plants the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant glue you stick this plant gently and uncomplicated on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
