This Bucephalandra sp. "Sword Leaf" features a beautiful rich dark green color and a slightly wavy leaf margin.
Bucephalandra are beautiful, still relatively unknown perching plants from Borneo, which have only been cultivated in the hobby for a few years. In nature, these rheophytes grow on rocks and root wood, much like Anubias, in the splash zone and sometimes in flooded areas. They are found especially in times when streams have a lot of water, also submerged, and often in sections with strong currents. Species classification is extremely difficult, therefore most Bucen are listed as Bucephalandra sp.
Bucephalandra "Swaod Leaf" grows relatively slowly and is not particularly demanding. It needs only little light and feels comfortable even in the shade of higher plants. It also blooms regularly under water. Over time, the rhizome branches out to form pretty little groups.
The Buce is easy topropagate, just divide the rhizome (the slightly thickened rootstock). When planting, please make sure that the rhizome is not covered by substrate, it can easily rot when buried. Bucephalandra "Sword Leaf" grows best when tied (or cyanoacrylate-based superglued) to a root or rock - this is most in keeping with its natural habit.
This buce also does great on the terrestrial part of a humid terrarium with very high humidity.
Like all Bucephalandra, "Sword Leaf" grows firmly on hard substrates with its adhesive roots and therefore only needs to be tied up in the early days.
Shortly after planting, it is possible that Bucephalandra "Sword Leaf" will drop its leaves completely. This is because it now lives in different conditions and has to adapt to them. Don't panic, it will sprout again! Depending on the light intensity, the leaf shape that is then sprouted may change.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new plants the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic Plant Glue you stick this plant gently and uncomplicated on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
