from over 3,000 reviews "This open front and back spawning cave / catfish cave made of baked clay is cleat-shaped and has rather round shaped entrances. It is ideal not only for Ancistrus species and other loricariids, but especially for larger crayfish such as Cherax from Papua, European younger Astacus or American crayfish such as Procambarus or Orconectes. The open shape of the tube allows the crayfish to escape if harassed by a conspecific or fish, minimizing the risk of injury and stress.
The cleat-shaped catfish cave is made entirely by hand. All edges are rounded, the surface is smoothed. This way we keep the risk of injury low. Thanks to stable walls, this tube is very durable and long-lasting, the material is water neutral and does not harden.
Despite being smoothed, the surface is still porous enough for filter bacteria and other beneficial organisms to settle, which on the one hand provide a good grazing area for catfish and shrimp, and on the other hand can clean the water of pollutants and contaminants and have a noticeably positive effect on water quality .
The stud-shaped catfish cave is ideally suited for greening with moss and / or perching plants. This can be easily realized by either tying the plants on or gluing them on with plant glue or cyanoacrylate-based superglue.
