Cave for catfish - w. round entrance ca. 17x5 cm ( h. closed )

This very natural looking catfish cave / spawning cave with its beautifully designed surface is made by hand. The cave for the aquarium is 17 cm long, has 5 cm in diameter and has a large, round-shaped entrance. The cave is closed at the back. Cave-inhabiting and cave-breeding loricariids such as the L333, the L102 and other, rather larger catfish feel very comfortable here. Also for larger American, European or Asian crayfish this 17 cm long cave is very suitable as a hiding place.  

The beautiful dark brown catfish cave with round entrance has rounded edges, which keeps the risk of skin injuries to catfish low. The stable cave with a decent wall thickness of up to 10 mm is almost indestructible and can really take a beating.

The great designed, natural looking surface has a high porosity and allows the settlement of biofilms, which are home to the beneficial filter bacteria. On the one hand, these bacterial films serve as grazing grounds for the catfish (and also shrimp, valuable aquarium snails and small crustaceans), and on the other hand, the filter bacteria in the biofilms eliminate water pollutants and contaminants in the aquarium water, thus contributing to improved water quality.

By the way, thanks to its dark brown color and natural-looking texture, the 17 cm long catfish burrow with a round entrance blends in nicely with an aquarium layout. If you like it very natural, plant the aquarium cave with mosses or perching plants such as Anubias or Bucephalandra. This is very easy to do with some nylon string or a cyanoacrylate based plant glue and looks really great.
