Christmas moss CocoPad 18x3 cm

The relatively flexible CocoPad with Christmas moss is well suited for the aquarium, aquaterrarium, rainforest terrarium and wet terrarium. The pad is professionally planted with Christmas moss (Vesicularia montagnei). Christmasmoss is characterized by a strongly triangular growth form, reminiscent of fir fronds. Due to its juicy medium green color, the water moss looks nice and fresh in the aquarium. Vesicularia montagnei is also satisfied with low light and grows even in the shade of higher aquarium plants. If you trim the Christmas moss a little bit from time to time, the fronds will branch nicely and the moss cushions will grow dense and compact.

The CocoPad measures 18x3 cm and is thus pleasantly narrow - super for a detailed, finely balanced aquarium design. We use a natural coconut mat as a base for the Christmasmoos CocoPad. This mat is relatively pliable and more flexible than wire mesh. It also does not release anything unwanted into the aquarium water. The CocoPad with Christmasmoss can also be attached to aquarium decorations, roots or stones and adapts to uneven surfaces to some extent.

If the CocoPad is to be trimmed, the threads used to tie on the Christmasmoss may need to be re-knotted or replaced altogether.

The Christmas moss has a good foothold on the CocoPad with its adhesive organs and can also spread out a little beyond it. This gives the aquarium, aquaterrarium or wet terrarium or rainforest terrarium a very natural and primitive appearance. CocoPad planted with aquarium moss is ideal for a design in the foreground of the aquarium and also looks great on the furnishings in the aquarium and aquaterrarium. Christmas moss is a great moss, even for planted tanks or an aquascape.

Juvenile shrimp and larger shrimp love moss pads as hiding places. Small crabs, dwarf crayfish and young crayfish also like to hide in the dense fronds of Christmas moss. The moss provides a large surface area for biofilms of beneficial bacteria to colonize, breaking down toxic nitrite and ammonium / ammonia in the aquarium water. Shrimp and baby crayfish love these biofilms as natural food and are extremely fond of eating them, as well as the suspended particles that get caught in the moss by the water flow.

Longer shoots of Christmas moss can be cut off the CocoPad and reattached. This makes it very easy to propagate the moss in the aquarium.

Christmas moss can also be cultivated very well above water. It looks rustic and beautiful emersed in the aquaterrarium or wet terrarium. In a humid environment, the moss grows on the Christmasmoos CocoPad also above water.
