Anubias barteri var. coffeifolia is also called coffee-leaf spear leaf . The name refers to the deeply furrowed leaf veins that really make the leaves look like coffee leaves. Their dark green to brownish coloration and light reddish-brown new shoots make a great contrast to medium green and light green plants. Since Coffee-leaved Spear Leaf grows slightly larger than other varieties of Anubias barteri, it is ideally suited to the middle ground of slightly larger aquariums.
Anubias barteri var. coffeeifolia has very hard foliage and is not readily eaten, so the plant is popular in perch tanks. Coffeeifolia spear leaf still grows well under lower light and has no problems in shady areas.
Anubias barteri var. coffeefolia can be propagated by simply dividing the rhizome. In any case, make sure there are still two leaves or more on each rhizome piece.
Please do not plant coffeefolia in the substrate, there is a risk of rhizome rot. Ideally, cultivate Anubias tied up on root wood or stone chunks, where the plants will find a foothold after a short time and adhere to the substrate by themselves.
Anubias barteri var. coffeeifolia is suitable for culture above water in a permanently moist terrarium without herbivorous stock.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the premium nutrient medium when setting up a new terrarium NatureHolic GroundBooster
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant adhesive stick this plant gently and easily on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
