This attractive variety with dark hammered leaves is named after the nursery 'Tropica'. When grown free-standing, the leaves grow to 10-20 cm long and almost drape over the ground. The plant is well suited for smaller aquariums and requires low light. Like most Sri Lankan Cryptocorynes, this one grows well in hard water.
Cryptocoryne wendtii "Tropica" grows slowly, making it very easy to care for. It does not require strong lighting or fertilization with a CO2 system.
Cryptocoryne wendtii "Tropica" reproduces by daughter plants that it sprouts from the rootstock. They can be cut off to propagate the plant and planted elsewhere.
