The exceptionally colorful American Water Hedge Didiplis diandra from the eastern part of the USA is a very special stem plant. Its underwater leaflets are needle-shaped and stand crosswise opposite each other, which gives the water hedge a particularly delicate and graceful appearance. It grows to a height of about 30 cm, making it suitable for the middle ground of larger aquariums and the background of smaller ones.
Under strong light and with a good supply of nutrients, the American Water Hedge takes on beautiful colors - all the shades of orange and red you can think of. Iron and micronutrients are especially important. Fertilization with CO2 is necessary for Didiplis diandra to grow well and quickly. If the light is weaker, the water hedge will remain green.
The colors of Didiplis diandra make a great contrast to green stem plants and also perfectly complement other colored plants. Its fast growth makes it a good competitor against algae.
Didiplis tolerates regular pruning very well and becomes beautifully bushy-compact afterwards. For easy propagation, insert the shoots into the substrate where they will soon take root.
This Didiplis diandra comes from in vitro culture, it is guaranteed free of pesticides, algae and pests due to the breeding method and can be used in the aquarium without prior watering. Please rinse off the transparent nutrient gel from the roots carefully before.
