Dwarf needle lime - Plant mat - Eleocharis parvula

The Dwarf Needlewort, also known as Eleocharis parvula, better: pusilla, is a great grass-like ground cover with which you can green your aquarium in no time. The plant mat is ready to use right out of the box- just place it where you want it in the aquarium and mound the mat a bit with gravel at the edges. From there, the groundcover will just keep growing, so you can soon enjoy a fresh green lawn.

With its grass-like stalks that grow to just 10 centimeters tall, the Dwarf Needlewort is great as a groundcover for small aquariums. Especially shrimps like to retreat here, because the stalks form a dense jungle. Juveniles can molt and grow in peace and also like to eat the biofilm off the leaves.

With a preference for temperatures between 20-27 °C, it can also be kept down to 12 °C and needs a fertilizer now and then to supply it with nitrate, potassium and phosphate . Also some Iron and CO2as well as a rather medium to high lighting support its growth. By pruning and dividing the plants, uncontrolled reproduction can be prevented. With a narrow and pointed tweezers offshoots can be replanted.
