Here the dwarf spear leaf Anubias barteri var. nana sits on a root. Since this plant is a perennial, this type of keeping is optimal. The dwarf spear leaf has small roundish dark green leaflets that sit on short petioles. Anubias barteri var. nana grows slowly and comes to flower more often under water.
Because it has very hard foliage, the Dwarf Spear Leaf is not usually nibbled even by perch. It thrives well under low light or in shaded areas, but it has no problems with more light.
