Emerald dwarf grassbora - Microdevario kubotai, have not been known in aquaristics for so long, but now already have a large circle of fans. They are also known as emerald dwarf grassbora or neon green dwarf danio and belong to the so-called mini fish. This small East Asian originates mainly from Thailand and Myanmar, where it inhabits waters with a rather weak current and colonizes weedy shore regions, where it also prefers to spawn. This fish, which grows to just 2-3.5 cm, has a greenish-yellow base color with emerald shimmering longitudinal bands, with even the eye, gill covers and ventral side iridescent, depending on the incidence of light. The fins of the Green Neon Dwarf Grassbora are translucent transparent.
The males of the Emerald Dwarf Grassbora lag slightly behind the rounder females in body girth. Breeding in the aquarium is possible. Since the dwarf grassboras are not spawn predators, they can be bred in a community aquarium. However, a breeding aquarium is more suitable , because the young can be fed with infusoria and slipper animals. For breeding the water should also be very acidic.
Emerald Dwarf Grassboras can be kept in aquariums from 60 liters. For the design are particularly suitable in places dense plant stands, in which they can retreat, but also a structuring of the substrate in the form of roots and stones. Since the Neon Green Dwarf Dwarf is a schooling fish, we recommend keeping it in a group of at least 6 animals, so that it can also show its species-typical friendly behavior. The water should have a total hardness (GH) of 1-20 ° dGH, as well as a pH between 6 and 7 and a temperature between 22-26 °C. If the animals are illuminated from the front or the side, their colors shine especially splendidly.
Emerald Dwarf Grassboras are peaceful and compatible fish that can be kept together with Dwarf Shrimps, Amano Shr imps and Fan Shrimps , if they have similar requirements to their water parameters. Likewise, they can be well socialized with the Red Neon and similar small peaceful fish such as Microrasboras, but also dwarf armored catfish .
These omnivores feed in their habitat, among other things, on tiny crustaceans, which they pick out of growth and can therefore be fed optimally in the aquarium with nanofish food, granulated food or very fine (crumbled) flake food for omnivorous fish. Occasional feeding with small and very small live and frozen food, such as cyclops, Artemia nauplii or enchytrae spice up their diet.
Our food recommendation: The professional NatureHolic Nanofeed is a staple food for all small aquarium fish. This mini fish food and rearing food is a fine soft granulate that, thanks to its softness, resembles the consistency of tiny crustaceans and insect larvae and protects the delicate mouth of nano fish and fry from micro-injuries.
Our plant recommendation: For planting, use NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend when keeping fish the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
