The south American Endler Guppy, also called Poecilia wingi, was determined to be a separate species in 2005 and is so closely related to the guppy in purely genetic terms that they can even produce fertile hybrids. Endler Guppies grow to just 2 cm in size, the females however reach up to 4 cm, which is why you can distinguish them optically quite well. Also, the females are not quite as colorful and are rather mousy. The breeding of these livebearers is relatively easy, because they are constantly courting and give birth every 4-6 weeks. In contrast to the normal Aquarienguppy their offspring is numerically however rather somewhat smaller and remains with 10-25 boys.
