The funny hedgehog-like leaves of Eriocaulon cinereum set simply wonderful accents in the foreground of aquascapes. The small plant is rather something for the specialists among the plant aquarists and aquascapers - it needs a lot of light, CO2 and a good supply of nutrients. Then the rarity shows its full beauty and unfolds its wonderful optical effect. Eriocaulon cinereum is one of the most beautiful aquarium plants you can buy nowadays. It definitely needs a good substrate - its impressive rootstock can be up to a third larger than the leaves above ground. - Garnelio

Eriocaulon cinereum - Dennerle InVitro
The genus Eriocaulon is very extensive with an estimated 400 -800 species. Eriocaulon cinereum is a real rarity for the plant lover. Good lighting, very soft water and high CO2 levels are important parameters for a successful culture. The small and hedgehog-shaped habit of the plant is ideal for the foreground for any aquarium size. The plants look especially beautiful in a shallow carpet of Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba' or Micranthemum tweediei. Due to its minimal size, Eriocaulon is often used in aquascaping - as a small botanical highlight, so to speak!
