Native to South America, the floating plant Phyllanthus fluitans is a beauty on the water surface of an aquarium. In good lighting, the roundish leaflets turn brown-red with intense red roots. In the start-up phase of an aquarium, Phyllanthus is a good recommendation for stabilizing an ecosystem in the living space. If you are lucky, you can also spot the tiny white flowers. The plant also grows very well in a garden pond or water trough - sunny locations with little water movement are preferred.
