The spring moss Fontinalis antipyretica, a true water moss, was once considered a medicinal plant, which was used, among other things, to reduce fever. That is where its nickname fever moss comes from. This deciduous moss has a worldwide distribution, it became very famous through Takashi Amano, who likes to call it Willow moss. Above water, spring moss collapses.
The up to 30 cm long shoots of the spring moss are relatively soft. They bear relatively large, three-rowed leaflets. quite soft shoots are covered with relatively large leaflets in three rows. The loosely textured pads are medium green to dark green, with light green tips that look like small green sparks.
Fontinalis antipyretica grows firmly on hard substrates with its adhesive organs. It attaches very well to roots or stones.
Spring moss can be easily propagated by simply dividing the pads. The long shoots have to be cut back from time to time anyway and can then also be used for propagation - simply re-tie them, done ... Frequent pruning allows the spring moss to become beautifully dense and compact.
In the garden pond, you can cultivate spring moss all year round.
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant glue you stick this plant gently and easily on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stocking.
