Origin: | acclimatized wild |
Propagation: | possible in fresh water |

The green dwarf shr imp shrimp from India is often called poison green dwarf shrimp because of its intense coloring. Especially on a dark background it sets strong accents with its strong and unusual coloring, while it is visually rather receding in the plant tank. Despite its name the green dwarf shrimp is not always green, depending on the mood it can also appear rather yellowish or somewhat brownish. Even bright red animals have been observed. With a size of up to four centimeters the green shrimp belongs to the rather larger dwarf shrimp. The males remain smaller and are less bulky than the females.
As an absolutely peaceful animal, the green shrimp can be socialized without any problems. If the demands on the water values match, you can keep them together with small, peaceful fishes, crayfishes, snails and mussels , and also with other shrimps. Since the larvae of the green shrimp are very small, we recommend for selective breeding, however, a species tank, possibly together with snails.
The green shrimp is also uncomplicated in feeding: it prefers to graze on algae patches and brown autumn leaves and looks for food scraps, so additional feeding in community aquariums is not absolutely necessary. Of course, it will still eat special shrimp food. We recommend a suitable protein food twice a week and otherwise mainly vegetable food.
The females of the Green Shrimp carry 50 to 80 relatively small brownish eggs under the abdomen for about four weeks. The Green Shrimp belongs to the "partially abbreviated type". This means that after the gestation period larvae hatch, but they do not need brackish water, but survive in fresh water. After a few days these larvae molt and look like miniature versions of their parents. The larvae need finest food, therefore it is recommended not to keep the aquarium 100% clean, but to allow some mulm. The Filter must be secured in such a way that the very small floating larvae cannot be sucked in!
Our food recommendation: The soft Mainfeed Softpads from NatureHolic are designed for daily feeding. They contain all the nutrients shrimp need for shell development, egg formation and growth. During the production process we pay attention to a gentle and environmentally friendly production, in which the vitamins and other valuable ingredients are preserved as much as possible.
Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
