from over 3,000 reviews "The gold spot Tylomelania is also called gold spot snail. It is a very beautiful snail from Sulawesi. Its black body is relatively even with medium sized bright yellow spots. Tylomelania towutensis grows up to 8 cm long and can reach a shell width of 3 cm. The shell is dark and very nicely sculptured. It originates from the island of Sulawesi, where it is found in Lake Towuti and the Tominanga River.
Golden-spotted Tylomelania are separately sexual, and they are a viviparous snail species. The female releases a juvenile every few weeks, which is born at around 5 to 7 mm in size.
In the aquarium, the Gold Spot Towuti snail will go for any food tablets offered, as well as vegetables and dead plant matter. Brown autumn leaves are also a great food supplement for them and a very natural food. It does not attack healthy aquarium plants, so it is also very suitable for keeping in a planted aquarium. However, the aquarium should not be planted too densely, because the snail grows quite large and cannot maneuver well in plant thickets.
It proves to be unproblematic in the aquarium and gets used to its new environment relatively quickly. The imposing beautiful Tylomelenia is not shy of light, and it shows itself less skittish than other snails from the Sulawesi lakes.
The exceedingly peaceful Gold Spot Towuti Snail is an asset to the aquarium, and it can be socialized with all peaceful aquarium inhabitants that do not eat or pick at snails.
The golden snail is not nearly as sensitive as the shrimps from this region in terms of demands on water values. Nevertheless, they need a pH of 7.5 and medium to hard water. Temperatures of 22 to 30 °C are comfortable for them.
Our food recommendation: With the Natureholic Snail Feed Power Paste you create a feeding lawn that is very well accepted by all aufwuchs feeding snails. Also delicate wild-caught snails like racing snails or staghorn snails, which are stressed after transport and do not go to conventional food, can be fed up well with it.
Our plant recommendation: Use for planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
Actively prevent outbreaks: With the invisible Natureholic Snail Barrier you prevent the escape and loss of your snails from the aquarium.
