Utricularia graminifolia from the water hose family originally comes from very clean, soft and nutrient-poor waters from Southeast Asia. Its lush green leaves grow in dense stands and look like a short lawn. The plant grows to a maximum height of 5 cm, so it is ideally suited for the foreground. It reproduces by underground runners.

The Grass-like Water Leek is one of the few carnivorous plants that can be kept in the aquarium. On the rhizome, hidden under the grass-like leaves that give it its name, the plant develops catch bladders about two millimeters in size, with the help of which it catches and digests tiny creatures. However, the plant is not dangerous for dwarf shrimp and even the smallest offspring, they are much too big for the catch bladders.
