Description

A group of Cobra Green Guppy males with their somewhat more reserved, but still fascinating and bright colors is a real eye-catcher in the aquarium. This beautiful variety of Poecilia reticulata from South America is absolutely popular in the aquarium hobby. Guppies have a long tradition in the aquarium hobby, they are very easy to keep and also to breed. Since the Guppy is not quite unjustly also called million fish, we supply the Cobra Green Guppy as a pure male group. The interestingly and clearly more beautifully than the females colored males can be recognized apart from their iridescent colors also by their anal fin, which is extended and transformed to a Gonopodium, thus a sex organ. The males become only approx. 5 cm long with Poecilia reticulata, the females with 8 cm clearly larger.

A male-only community has several major advantages for guppies - no uncontrolled reproduction, and the guppies have significantly less stress because they are not constantly hitting on the females and fighting over the ladies. Male-only groups tend to live longer than mixed-sex groups.

Cobra Green Guppies get their name from the great snakeskin pattern that covers their body and tail fin. The base color is a green that plays into turquoise, and the tail fin plays into yellowish. On the body the snake pattern is reddish to brownish black, on the caudal fin black. The whole body of the Cobra Green Guppy is iridescent.

Guppies, like Endler Guppies, are live-bearing toothcarps, and the Cobra Green Guppy can mate with them and produce fertile hybrids. Therefore, you should not socialize Endlers and Guppies. With other lively fish such as tetras, mollies, platies and swordtails you can keep the swimming Guppies very well together. Living together also works with loricariids and armored catfish, so Guppies are very suitable for a classic community aquarium. If you want to keep male and female Guppies, there should be a "natural feeder" in the aquarium, which helps a little to keep the Guppy population in check. Of course, guppies will also eat their own offspring, but their numbers will still increase. With robust, well reproducing dwarf shrimps or with Amano shrimps and also with fan shrimps and peaceful dwarf crabs Guppies can also be socialized very well.

Basically Guppies are very easy to breed. Even in a community aquarium enough youngsters will grow up, if the tank is well planted and offers hiding places for the little ones. The females give birth to their young alive after about 21 days. After that they do not necessarily have to mate again, but can fertilize themselves several more times with the help of stored semen. A single litter of Poecilia reticulata can contain up to 20 young. For a specific rearing of the baby guppies we recommend the Natureholic YoungFeed as a balanced rearing food.

The Cobra Green Guppy is an undemanding aquarium fish that copes well with medium to hard water and a water temperature of 22-28 °C. A heater is not absolutely necessary. A heater is not absolutely necessary. The aquarium should offer swimming space, but also be well planted, so that the co-inhabitants can withdraw.

Cobra Green Guppies are omnivorous fish and are happy to eat algae coverings and decomposing plant material in addition to high quality granulated and flake foods. Vegetable chips and scalded vegetables and greens are also suitable, as is supplementing the daily diet with Frozen food or Live food.

Our food recommendation: The fragrant NatureHolic Guppyfeed was tailor-made for the requirements of guppies and other viviparous fish in the aquarium. In addition to high-quality animal-based ingredients, it also contains plant-based components that benefit guppies & co. The soft granules protect the sensitive mouth of the viviparous from injuries caused by hard food grains and provide the fish with a natural feeding experience.

Our plant recommendation: For planting, use NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.

Question: "Hallo liebes Garnelio Team! Ich hätte eine Frage zur Fütterung von Guppys. Ich habe bei meinen Aquarium einen Futterautomaten der über den Tag verteilt 5 Mal kleine Mengen freigibt. Habe jedoch gelesen daß das für Guppys nicht gut ist sooft gefüttert zu werden. Wie ist eure Erfahrung dazu? Ich habe gestern eine Lieferung von euch erhalten. Weiters habe ich noch Blatis, Smaraktbärblinge Panzerwelse und Longfin im Aquarium "
