With the radiant Gold Laser Guppy male, you could easily assume that the sun is rising in the aquarium! The live-bearing tooth carp belonging to Poecilia reticulata originally comes from South America and is a great color variety. Guppies look back on a very long tradition and are one of the most popular aquarium fish of all. No wonder; because they are very easy to maintain, forgive gross blunders and reproduce excessively well, so that they were given the name million fish. But to prevent just this excessive reproduction, you acquire here a pure male group. Of course you can also find the Guppy females in our store, should you want to try breeding them.
A pure male group is wonderful to look at, also the bachelors lose nothing of their elegance. On the contrary, they are not constantly stressed by courtship and competition, which definitely affects their well-being and health, possibly even their life expectancy.
Gold Laser Guppies shine through their gorgeous yellow neon fins like a little ray of sunshine in the aquarium. Their metallic bodies sparkle and flash as they do so, depending on how they swim their lanes under the lighting. The back, head and also the belly can be lighter to colorless. In contrast to Guppy females they become much more colorful but remain somewhat smaller. They are also distinguished by their sexual appendage under the abdomen, which tends to be more rounded in females.
Gupys are constant flirters when kept mixed sexed. Males in particular can become downright pushy. After mating, the female can even store the male's semen for a while and fertilize herself several times. At intervals of about 21 days, females give birth to between 20-40 young that have developed in eggs in their abdomen. The parents prey on their offspring, so there should be enough plants in the aquarium for the little ones to hide from their hungry mouths. With our YoungFeed they can be fed and raised very well.
In an aquarium of 54 liters or more, the Gold Laser Guppy aquarium fish will do well. The animals are very active and eager to move and therefore need a lot of swimming space. But also hiding places to rest and retreat should be included in the design. Stem plants, but also mosses are very suitable for this. With great roots, but also decorations or stones, great structures can be created. It has no great demands on its water values, it can be kept in soft to medium hard water.
Guppies are very sociable animals that value others. Therefore you should keep them at least in groups. However, Endler and Guppies are so closely related that they can produce fertile hybrids, so you should rather do without this WG. With other lively and peaceful fish like for example Tetras, Platies, Mollies, but also Loricariids or Corydoras but they can be brought together great. Guppies are excellent for socialization! Also well reproducing dwarf shrimp species, but also the popular Amano shrimp are great co-inhabitants. However, under some circumstances a shrimp pup may be eaten by them. Dwarf shrimp and crayfish are a rather bad match, however, as they can seriously injure and also eat the guppy.
The omnivorous Gold Laser Guppy is not picky and can be easily fed with commercially available dry foods such as flake foods but also granular foods for omnivorous ornamental fish. Due to their preference to pick at coverings, they can even keep algae growth somewhat in check. Also scalded vegetables such as cucumber, Peppers or Pumpkin can be offered to them from time to time. Live and frozen foods, such as Artemia, Daphnia or cyclops, but also Mosquito larvae may be offered to them from time to time as a treat.
Our food recommendationNatureHolic Guppyfeed is a fine soft granulate with 0.5 mm grain thickness, which is suitable as a staple food for all aquarium fish and especially for guppies. The soft consistency of the food pearls is reminiscent of that of natural insect larvae. It protects the sensitive fish mouth from micro injuries caused by hard or sharp-edged food. In addition to animal food, guppies also need a vegetable component in their diet. As special additives we add garlic extract and the leaf powder of the miracle tree Moringa olifera to NatureHolic Guppyfeed. These herbal additives are attributed positive effects on the immune system and the colorfulness of the colorful fish.
Our plant recommendation: For planting, use NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planaria and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.
Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.
