Horned horn fern Ceratopteris cornuta is much coarser in structure than Sumatra fern. The leaves are somewhat reminiscent of antlers, hence its name. This water fern originates from shallow waters and also occurs in nature emersed on wet soils, which makes it suitable for the terrestrial part in a paludarium or a terrarium kept very humid. Horned horn fern can be planted or cultivated floating freely on the surface.
Horned Horn Fern grows exceptionally fast and depletes excess nutrients. This makes it an excellent competitor for algae. Ceratopteris cornuta is a hardy plant that has few requirements and is great for beginners.
Propagation is also very easy: young plants form on the older leaves at the water surface in the incisions, which eventually fall off on their own and can either be grown floating or planted.
Our recommendation: For magnificent plant growth, we recommend the premium nutrient medium when setting up a new aquarium NatureHolic GroundBooster
