With its ice blue appearance, the Iced Blue Mix will also add the necessary splash of color to your aquarium. This Caridina Mix has different interesting shades of white and blue that are quite reminiscent of Blue Bolts or Steel Blue. Here you are guaranteed to find one or the other unique specimen, which you can select with devotion! You can also use the Iced Blue for very special breeding projects, because they can be crossed with other Cardina like the Bee Shrimp but also Tiger Shr imp and their hybrids.
The Iced Blue shrimp reproduce regularly, when they feel comfortable about every 1.5 months. The female carries between 20 and 40 eggs under her belly, from which fully developed young hatch. Because they often stay at the place of their hatching for the first time and grow there and molt several times, it can take some time before you discover them. But with a dust food like our BabyFeed you can positively influence their development and promote their survival rate.
You can keep these great animals already from 20 liters, but if you want to breed actively, we recommend a rather larger water volume. It is best to offer your pets an active substrate like Soil and keep the water values soft, around 250 microsiemens. You can easily maintain them at room temperature, as cooler rather than warmer is better in this case. In summer, make sure that the water does not crack the 23 °C mark and use an aquarium cooler if necessary. Hygiene is also a top priority for the Ice Blue, therefore change the water weekly between 10-30 %.
Although the Iced Blue are very peaceful aquarium inhabitants, you should consider carefully whether you want to socialize them. Shells and Snails are no problem, fish and Crayfish but fish and crayfish might stress her a little bit, which is why her reproduction is rather slow.
As an omnivore, your ice blue beauty will eat almost anything she finds, but we recommend you feed her a Shrimp food that provides her with all the minerals she needs to avoid molting or growth problems. You should also give her a protein food every now and then. Also humic substances in the form of sea almond tree leaves, brown autumn leaves or Alder cones you can offer her. Pay attention to a rather vegetable nutrition, so that it remains for you for a long time, therefore you can also feed it with Hokkaido sticks or Nettles stinging nettles.
