The shrimp species from the rather new genus Paracaridina are more or less closely related to bee shrimp and tiger shrimp as well as to Caridina serrata (Aura Blue, Spotted Shrimp and Tangerine Tiger Shrimp), some like the Blue Bee also crossbreed with bee shrimp for example. They originate from South China, Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries and often come from streams with soft and acidic water. Especially the Blue Bee, a small blue white to dark brown white species in the genus Paracaridina is considered a very prolific and relatively easy to keep in the aquarium dwarf shrimp, but also the black and white Princess Bee from Vietnam is a very beautiful aquarium animal that looks very similar to the Bumble Bee Shrimp. These dwarf shrimp are great for a nano aquarium.
The European freshwater shrimp Atyaephyra desmaresti lives in our rivers and streams also in nature. It needs cooler water in winter and then takes a break from reproduction. The dominant males of this species are known as Black Knights and look very impressive for a freshwater dwarf shrimp. Freshwater shrimp can also be kept well in a shrimp aquarium. Standard aquariums from 54 liters are recommended here.
The Nigerian Siberian shr imp Desmocaris trispinosa fascinates by its size, its large eggs - it reproduces in freshwater - and by the fact that it can swim backwards. Its sideways protruding eyes look a bit like Sid the sloth. The behavior of the Nigerian Suspended Shrimp is very exciting and interesting, these dwarf shrimp from Africa can stop on the spot in the water and they are absolutely social group animals in other ways as well. Young hover shrimp come into the world already quite large. The hover shrimp also feels comfortable in a standard tank from 54 liters.
