Gabon fan shrimp, Mollukken fan shrimp & co.
Fan shrimp are called gentle giants among shrimp. As the name suggests, these shrimp have very large fans, with which the shrimp filter small food and dirt particles from the water. For this reason, there should be some current in the aquarium so that the shrimp can feed. Therefore, larger roots are recommended for the setup, which will later be used as a place for feeding. It should also be mentioned that fan shrimp can often be very shy, which is why the aquarium should not be located directly next to moving objects. After the animals have settled in, however, they become more trusting day by day and eventually even lose their shyness. Optimally, fan shrimp should be fed with dust food, but tablet food is also "fanned out" and free floating food flakes and granules are also well accepted. Fan shrimp can be socialized with almost all aquarium inhabitants that are not cannibalistic and can disturb them during feeding, such as crayfish.
