Genus: | Anubias |
The ivy-leaved spear leaf Anubias gracilis lives up to its name. The long stems with the triangular, partly cuspate downward extended medium green leaves appear distinctly graceful despite their size. As a contrast to other Anubias species with broader leaves or as a quirky accent to mosses and ferns, this spear leaf looks particularly beautiful.
With its size of up to 50 cm, Anubias gracilis fits ideally on root wood or stones in the middle ground of large aquariums or in the background of smaller tanks. As a perching plant, the Ivy-leaved Anubias does not want to sit in the substrate, it prefers an existence tied up on wood or stone.
In the biotope, the Ivy-leaved Spear-leaf also lives perched on hard substrates along fast-flowing jungle streams in the shade of giant trees. Therefore, in the aquarium it can also live very well under low light.
Anubias gracilis also does really well in large paludariums and can also be grown very well emersed in sufficiently moist air.
Anubias gracilis is not difficult to propagate, you just have to cut off a piece of rootstock and replant it. Please make sure that there are at least two leaves on it - this will ensure that the plant grows well.
Our recommendation: For magnificent plant growth, we recommend premium nutrient medium when setting up a new plant NatureHolic GroundBooster
Expert Tip: With the NatureHolic plant adhesive stick this plant gently and easily on stones, roots and decoration . Made in Germany, the adhesive does not pollute the water and has no negative impact on the stock.
