Especially when setting up a new aquarium, it is advisable to consider adding a nutrient depot under the gravel, which not only supplies your plants continuously, but over a long period of time, because: "everything that lives also wants to eat!

Plants obtain their nutrients in different ways, on the one hand through the leaves, but above all through the roots. Especially when setting up a new aquarium, the aim is to achieve vigorous plant growth. Thanks to essential nutrients, AquaBasis plus helps to develop strong roots and thus to keep them securely in place in the aquarium. The magnificent plant growth in particular provides the vital oxygen enrichment in the water, and algae growth is also actively reduced, as the plants rob them of the nutrients necessary for this.

JBL ProFlora AquaBasis plus can be compared to a charged battery : the nutrient substrate immediately supplies the energy (nutrients such as iron) for the plants and can be recharged with the help of liquid fertilizers should it run out. The nutrient substrate can remain in the aquarium for up to 5 years. The clay components it contains store nutrients and release them back to the plants as needed.

We recommend this substrate setup:
Fill in approx. 2 cm of special nutrient substrate or another nutrient substrate and then cover with at least 3 cm of well-washed aquarium gravel.
