The stem plant Flowering Stemless Marsh Limnophila sessiliflora comes from the Asian region and has become well established in the aquarium hobby. With its beautiful light green pinnate leaves and rusty brown shoot tips under good lighting, this relatively delicate stem plant is a nice addition to other green or red aquarium plants. The effect of this marsh friend, which grows to about 50 cm tall, is ideal as a larger group, especially in the background of a larger aquarium.
Limnophila sessiliflora copes well with medium light, which makes it a perfect alternative to the equally fine-grained Cabomba, which needs considerably more light. CO2 fertilization is also not absolutely necessary for the successful care of Limnophila sessiliflora.
With good care, the flowering stemless sessile grows very quickly, it is therefore an optimal competitor to annoying algae and can be used specifically to prevent algae infestations. Limnophila sessiliflora can be cut back courageously, the plant also tolerates frequent trimming excellently. This way, the groups become attractive and compact and develop a bushy, dense growth.
To propagate the marsh friend, simply stick the cut plant parts into the substrate. You can also make the groups even denser or establish another group of Limnophila sessiliflora in the aquarium.
This marsh friend was grown in the laboratory in in vitro culture and can therefore be immediately planted in the aquarium. Thanks to the Meristem culture, the aquarium plant is free of pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and fungi, it does not bring any algae or unwanted co-inhabitants such as worms, snails and co. Please rinse the culture medium carefully out of the roots under running water, then the plant is ready for insertion.
Also emersed, i.e. above water, the flowering stemless marsh friend can be used. You can either let the Limnophila grow above the water surface (especially beautiful in open aquariums with hanging light) or use it in a humid terrarium or waterfall aquarium on the land part. In emersed culture the plant gets purple flowers directly on the stem.
Our recommendation: For a splendid plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new plants the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.
