The Malaya dwarf shrimp from Malaysia captivates mainly by its beautiful white patterning, typically a white dorsal stripe with three transverse stripes of different length on the abdomen, which does not occur in all, but in most animals. Generally, the base color of the Malaya shrimp is rather dark with red, blue and black tones. Females tend to be average in size at about two and a half centimeters, while males are slightly paler in color and also slimmer. They remain slightly smaller than the females.
As an active but peaceful shrimp species, the Malaya Dwarf Shrimp can be kept excellently with small peaceful fish and other invertebrates, provided the water quality requirements of each species are roughly congruent. Nothing is known about a possible crossability of the Malaya Dwarf Shrimp with other shrimp.
The diet of the Caridina cf. babaulti "Malaya" dwarf shrimp is also very simple: The animals eat algae growth and biofilms forming on decoration and plants. Furthermore the animals eat plant remains and in the community tank also uneaten fish food. Of course, Malaya Dwarf Shrimp also like to take shrimp food specially adapted to their needs. We especially recommend the administration of a suitable protein food twice a week. Otherwise Food vegetable origin is wonderfully suitable, and the Malaya Dwarf Shrimp is always happy about brown autumn leaves as permanent food for grazing.
The breeding of the Malaya Dwarf Shrimp is also quite easy. The female carries between 50 and 80 very small eggs, from which larvae hatch, which can develop in fresh water. For numerous breeding we recommend a species tank with mulm and fine dust food.
