Microsorum pteropus on suction root - Dennerle

Originally native to the Asian tropics, the Java fern, scientifically also known as Microsorum pteropus, is a great perennial plant that gives every aquarium that certain something extra. The java fern is very easy to care for and not demanding. Especially for beginners, it is therefore well suited, because he easily forgives the one or the other faux pas. Since it thrives even in partial shade, it does not require much attention. In its habitat, the java fern is mainly found at water edges, where it colonizes root pieces, but also rocks. Therefore, it can also be cultivated in an aquaterrarium or a terrarium kept moist.

As a perching plant, it should not be placed in the substrate with its rootstock, the so-called rhizome, as this would otherwise begin to rot. To put down the java fern, simply remove a piece of the rhizome a few leaves at it and tie or stick it somewhere else again.
