The narrow-leaved Java fern (Microsorum pteropus "Narrow") comes to us from the tropical regions of Asia. The narrow leaves that give it its name are relatively long and an intense dark green. The perennial contrasts beautifully with finer textures and light green plants in the background. It is best to tie narrow-leaved java fern on wood or stone decoration, as has already been done here, to prevent the rootstock from beginning to rot in the substrate.
The narrow-leaved java fern fits ideally into the middle ground. It is one of the slow growing plants and still grows more than satisfactorily under less light.
To propagate the Javafarn "Narrow", simply cut off a piece of the rhizome. At least two leaves should still be attached to it.
Narrow-leaved java fern is also excellent to grow in terrariums with high humidity.
