This Narrow-leaved Trident Java Fern Microsorum pteropus 'Trident' was tied onto a root with a suction cup. It attaches well to the aquarium glass, so you can easily create more floor space for shrimp and small crayfish. You can also use this java fern in the terrarium (with high humidity).
Trident java fern is characterized by its narrow, long leaves that divide at the base of the leaves. Trident actually means "divided into three parts", but the number of leaf parts is not fixed. There are even undivided leaves. Trident remains somewhat smaller than the other varieties of java fern.
Javafarn can bepropagated very easily by transverse division of the rootstock. Trident Javafarn also sprouts young plants at the leaf tips from time to time, which can be carefully cut off and tied up.
Java fern 'Trident' is just as suitable for beginners as for more experienced plant aquarists. It looks good in smaller and larger aquariums in the middle ground, preferably tied up. Javan fern should not be planted in order to prevent the rootstock from rotting.
Trident java fern does not grow particularly fast, and the plant copes very well even with low light.
