A pretty and very variable species from West Africa that has green to reddish-brown leaves with varying amounts of reddish-purple spots. Plants grow to a height of 20-80 cm. Before floating leaves grow, Nymphaea lotus forms many submerged leaves. If you do not want floating leaves, roots and leaves can be pruned and this will keep the plant more compact. In an open aquarium, you can see the beautiful, fragrant bloom. A nutrient-rich substrate promotes growth. Is available in a red and a green variety. A recommended specimen plant for large aquariums.
