With the fast dissolving Greenscaping Osmo Royal Magnesium Sulfate you buy here in the store a special hardening salt with which you can increase the magnesium content of your aquarium water.

Magnesium forms part of the total hardness (GH) and is also a macronutrient that the plants in the aquarium need for good growth. Macronutrient means that magnesium is needed by aquarium plants in large quantities. As a rough guideline, you should aim for a magnesium level of 10 mg/l or more and regularly check the level of Mg in the aquarium water using a suitable droplet test for aquaristics.

If there is too little magnesium in the aquarium water, aquarium plants may experience deficiency symptoms: Pale colors, poor growth and bleached-looking chlorotic older leaves, but where the leaf veins are still green, are signs that the plants are undersupplied with the macronutrient magnesium.

The ratio of magnesium to calcium in aquarium water should be 1:2 to 1:3, so the calcium value should be 20 to 30 mg/l for a magnesium value of 10 mg/l.

With this special salt for aquaristics, produced in Germany, you can add magnesium to your aquarium water in a very targeted manner, for example if there is not enough magnesium in your tap water or if your plants grow very strongly and consume a correspondingly large amount of magnesium.

The formula of this highly pure hardening salt for freshwater aquariums in pharmaceutical quality is completely free of the plant-damaging growth inhibitors chloride and sodium. The cations used here are sulfates, which are absolutely harmless in aquarium water in the recommended dosages. It is quickly soluble and thanks to its high purity very safe to use in the aquarium.

Dosage: The initial water is remineralized with Osmo Royal Magnesium Sulfate Hardening Salt as required. 10 g per 100 l increase the magnesium content by approx. 10 mg/l and the total hardness by 2.27 °dGH. One level teaspoon corresponds to about 5 g. The optimum target value for the magnesium content in aquarium water is 10 mg/l, magnesium should be present in a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 to calcium.
