Hygrophila pinnatifida has its origin in India. It develops lobed leaves in the aquarium with leathery brown top and wine red underside. The plant grows 20-40 cm tall and forms horizontal side shoots. Top shoots must be pinched off to maintain compact growth. The horizontal side shoots like to attach themselves to decorative stones and roots. In smaller groups with a quiet background, the growth habit and color are very attractive eye-catchers. In good light conditions, the compact shape is maintained thanks to the plant's moderate growth rate.
