Predatory snail - Clea helena (Anentome helena)
The pretty black and yellow ringed predatory snail is a very popular snail in aquaristics. Its very special ability to eat other snails is of course a big factor in this, but also the fact that it is easy to breed and quite tolerant and robust when it comes to water values. Overall, Clea helena is a very beautiful, fascinating snail that is probably unique in its kind in freshwater. - Garnelio
Description

Only since a few years the Clea helena (formerly: Anentome helena), originating from Indonesia and Thailand, is imported to Germany and it has taken the aquaristics by storm. The predatory snail is a beautiful, spirally yellow and black striped snail with a strikingly ribbed turret-shaped shell. In the front it has a characteristic notch, from which the predatory snail stretches up its proboscis. With a shell length of up to 3 cm, the pretty snail not only looks beautiful, but is also known as a snail eater.

Predatory snails are bisexual, but there is no method to distinguish the males and females from each other from the outside. After mating, the female lays individual pillow-shaped eggs on smooth surfaces such as plants and decorations, which hatch into approximately 1 mm small predatory snails after about two weeks. The baby predatory snails live in the substrate first and then come out when they are slightly larger.

When a snail is eaten, the predatory snail first stuns its victim with a toxin that it injects into the snail through a proboscis, which dissolves it. It then sucks it dry with a second proboscis. The predatory snail prefers easy-to-hunt snails without lids, such as bubble snails and post horn snails. Basically, however, the predatory snail attacks all snail species, including large lidded snails such as zebra apple snails, racing snails and so on. They can be kept very well together with other aquarium inhabitants that chase them.

Besides snails, predatory snails also like to eat protein food. So if all snails are eaten out of the aquarium, you can still keep the predatory snails and feed them with protein tabs. A feeder sn ail is still a good way to feed them.

The predatory snail likes water with a pH of 7 or above, and it prefers medium to hard water.

Our food recommendation: With the Natureholic Snail Feed Power Paste you create a feeding lawn that is very well accepted by all aufwuchs feeding snails. Also delicate wild-caught snails such as racing snails or staghorn snails, which are stressed after transport and do not go to conventional food, can be fed up well with it.

Our plant recommendation: Use for the planting NatureHolic InVitros. These are free of snails, planarians and other unwanted co-inhabitants. Also free of algae spores, bacteria and fungi.

Expert Tip: We recommend for fish keeping the NatureHolic 3 Phase Liquid. The care set offers the best all-round protection for your animals. It ensures optimal conditions for successful breeding and keeping.

Actively prevent outbreaks: With the invisible Natureholic Snail Barrier you prevent the escape and loss of your snails from the aquarium.

Hallo Marcel, vielen Dank fuer deine Frage!

Question: "Hallo, geht die Schnecke an die Rennschnecken?
