from over 3,000 reviews "Wallich's Rotala, also called Fine-leaved Rotala or Red Mosswort(Rotala wallichii) is an extremely attractive stem plant from Southeast Asia, found from Pakistan to Indonesia inclusive in soft and slightly acidic freshwater bodies. Under optimal growing conditions, this Rotala displays spectacular colors: bright pink or orange to deep dark red.
The shoots are densely covered with needle-like thin leaves about 1-2 cm long. Their fine feathery structure is especially popular with shrimp. With too little light the shoots turn green, especially in the lower part this happens quite fast in the shade of the higher shoot tips. Wallich's Rotala grows to about 15-40 cm tall and grows quite rapidly under favorable conditions.
Rotala wallichii is a very demanding plant, it needs besides a good CO2 supply also a lot of light and a well balanced supply of nutrients. Too much nitrate (NO3) is as little advantageous as too little, ideally the nitrate content of the aquarium water should be between 5 and 15 mg per liter. A good supply of phosphate is also necessary, as is the abundant presence of iron and trace elements.
This fine-leaved Rotala is offered by NatureHolic as an InVitro aquarium plant. Here pollutants are excluded as well as unwanted co-inhabitants - the plant comes from the laboratory, where it was produced sterile. For this reason, it does not need to be quarantined, but can be used immediately in the aquarium. Please rinse the culture medium beforehand and plant the stems individually with some distance to each other, so that they get enough light from the beginning.
Propagating the Red Mosswort Rotala wallichii is very easy: Cut off side shoots or shoot tips about 10-15 cm long and simply put them back into the substrate. If the lower parts of the plant have become very ugly, remove them from the aquarium and replant only the upper shoots to rejuvenate the group.
Our recommendation: For a magnificent plant growth we recommend the use of the NatureHolic fertilizer series and for new planting the Premium Nutrient Substrate NatureHolic GroundBooster.
