The stem plant Heteranthera zosterifolia an impressive beauty in the aquarium. The bright light green leaves are up to 5cm long and grow in alternate leaf arrangement. The requirements are relatively low, with good lighting and CO2 fertilization the growth is distinctly compact and fast. Therefore a regular shortening of the shoots is recommended. On our Plantahunter tour in  Brazil we saw the plant  in the Rio da Prata  over many kilometers in the river course. Even in 2m water depth there were still lush stands in the crystal clear water. The Heteranthera is a very contrasting plant for the middle -to background and works especially well in combination with colored plants such as Rotala rotundifolia.
