Very slow growing Anubias barteri var. nana "Bonsai" is the smallest known variety of Anubias barteri var. nana. The leaflets grow only 1-2 cm, the whole plant grows only about 5 cm high. The dwarf spear leaf is perch resistant thanks to its hard foliage.
It can be used in the middle ground or foreground as a beautiful dark green contrast to light stem plants in the background. Please never plant Anubias in substrate - its rhizome (rootstock) may rot. After planting, gently tug the plant until the thick rhizome is back above the soil surface or tie the plant to wood or stones.
Anubias grow in nature in shady streams under jungle trees and do very well with low light in the aquarium.
Bonsai Anubias is very easy to propagate, simply divide the rhizome. Make sure that at least one or two leaflets grow on the divided piece.
